CHURCH HILL HUNTING CLUB, INC.
BOOGER BOTTOM TRACT 2008-09 RULES
Our objective is to manage the land to maintain a good supply of mature bucks with a high buck-doe-ratio. To do this we have to be willing to pass up young bucks and harvest a sufficient number of does each year. A mature buck is determined more by the body size than the antler size so some emphasis will be put on body weight. The following rules apply: 1. Absolutely no alcohol of any kind at any time on any part of the property. Failure to comply with this rule could jeopardize our lease.2. Follow all Federal, State, and local game laws. 3 Always wear hunter’s orange. Always wear a safety strap while in a tree.
4. Know exactly where you aim your gun and what is behind where you aim your gun. If you shoot a deer you should know exactly what you have shot. Otherwise you shouldn’t shoot. 5. Respect the landowner’s roads and trees. Once season begins, drive vehicles only on the main gravel road and walk to your stand from there. ATV’s are fine but also must stay on the main gravel road. Only ATV’s beyond the gravel road and even then only to retrieve game. No vehicles of any kind should go past the camp area after the morning or evening hunt except to retrieve deer or go to your stand to hunt. Try to travel as quietly as possible to avoid spooking deer. Do not under any circumstances harm any trees on the property. Do not drive any nails in any trees. This could also jeopardize our lease.
6. Dispose of all trash properly. Do not leave trash in the shooting houses. Take it with you when you leave.7. If you leave a portable stand on a tree, someone else can hunt it. If you do not want anyone else to hunt the stand, remove it each time you hunt. 8. When you sign out for an area, you must immediately go to the area to hunt. For example, you cannot sign out the evening before for the area you intend on hunting the next morning. Stand selection will be on a first come first serve basis. You must stay in your area even if a deer is killed early until 9am for morning hunts and dark for evening hunts. Only if you can get to the camp area without walking through another area can you leave early. Once in an area stay there.9. Children of a member can hunt under the parents’ membership until they turn 19 or graduate from High School whichever comes first. Children who attend college can hunt under the parents’ membership until they graduate or turn 23 years old. Harvest Rules 1. Each membership can kill unlimited does with a bow. Each membership can kill two does per year with a gun. Members may “give” their does to other members. 2. Each membership can kill no more than 5 bucks per season. 3. Bucks taken need to be mature deer. They should have 8 pts, be heavy horned, obviously mature heavy body and an outside rack width of no less than 16”. Shooter bucks should be over 200 lbs. Young deer with wide racks are not shooters.4. Lower jaw front teeth will be harvested from each buck killed and sent to www.deerage.com to determine exact age. Any buck considered to be a finer that is aged 4.5 or older will not bear a fine. Bucks killed that could easily be mistaken for a legal deer will still be considered legal if the gross body weight is no less than 200 lbs. 5. A child of a member under the age of 19 will be allowed to kill one buck of choice that does not meet the size requirement. This is a onetime opportunity. After that kill, all bucks must meet the size requirements each year thereafter. 6 A buck that is injured whether found or not counts as 1 of the 5-buck limit.
7. The fine for a non-legal buck is $250.00 and count as two of the five buck limit. A second non-legal deer per membership killed will be subject to a $500.00 fine and also count as two bucks. A buck of choice killed by a child does not count in this rule. The fine must be paid before any member of that membership may hunt again. A third illegal buck killed will be grounds for dismissal from the club with no refund.8. A button buck or spike shot for a doe will have a $100.00 fine and count as two bucks of the 5 limit.9. Record each deer killed in the book at the sign out board. Failure to abide by any of these rules will be grounds for dismissal from the club without refund. Remember to treat others as you would want to be treated and everyone should have a good time. Jason E. Spinks 2008-2009 season saw two shooter bucks killed and both were aged by www.deerage.com to be 4.5 years old.
